Wie lange bist du schon in diesem Wald?
Fragt die Fichte den Stein.
Zeit ist eine Frage der Perspektive.
Sagt der Stein zur Eintagsfliege.

Alles wächst, es entsteht ein Wald. Es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit. Der Stein sagt, er liegt schon sehr, sehr lange hier. Die Fichte sagt, sie steht schon seit drei Generationen auf diesem Stein. Der Borkenkäfer sagt, er macht nur kurz halt. Der Ameisenhaufen wandert seltener als die einzelnen Ameisen, die dauernd wandern. Die Wildschweine sagen, sie ziehen bald weiter, doch noch gibt es hier Pilze. Die Pilze sagen, sie sind überall, nicht nur in diesem Wald. Sie wissen fast alles. Es gibt viele Perspektiven in einem Wald, die menschliche ist nur eine davon. Wer bestimmt, wie der Wald auszusehen hat?

Im Wechsel zwischen Gebärdensprache, Lautsprache und Körpersprache begibt sich makemake in den Lebensraum Wald. Ein Ökosystem, das oft nur aus wirtschaftlicher Perspektive gesehen wird und nahezu immer aus menschlicher.

How long have you been in this forest? Asks the spruce the stone.
Time is a question of perspective.
Says the stone to the mayfly.‍

Everything grows, a forest emerges. It's just a question of time. The stone says it's been here for a very, very long time. The spruce says it has been standing on this stone for three generations. The bark beetle says it only stops for a short time. The anthill moves less often than the individual ants, which are constantly on the move. The wild boars say they will soon move on, but there are still mushrooms here. The mushrooms say they are everywhere, not just in this forest. They know almost everything. There are many perspectives in a forest, the human perspective is just one of them. Who decides what the forest should look like?

Alternating between sign language, spoken language and body language, makemake enters the forest habitat. An ecosystem that is often only seen from an economic perspective and almost always from a human one.
