Hochstapler in Maßanzügen. Toxische Männlichkeiten. Eine Klein-Buben-Phantasie in Privatjets. Oder: Der Wirecard-Skandal. In einem genreübergreifenden Theaterabend inszeniert Blind Date Collaboration diese Geschichte als Satire, in der Drag Kings das Spiel um sehr viel Geld persiflieren, das doch nie mehr war als heiße Luft.

Das frühere Dax-Unternehmen “Wirecard” wurde als deutsche Antwort zum Silicon Valley gefeiert. Doch im Juni 2020 fliegt das Lügenmärchen auf: 1,9 Milliarden Euro sind spurlos verschwunden – oder haben nie existiert. Anleger_innen verlieren ihr Geld und Ex-Wirecard COO Jan Marsalek türmt. Von Bad Vöslau fliegt er nach Minsk, wo sich seine Spur zunächst verliert. Während die Gerichtsverfahren im Fall Wirecard laufen und nun sogar um ein Jahr verlängert wurden, bleiben die Verstrickungen in die österreichische Politik weiterhin nebulös. Und CEO Markus Braun? Der will von alledem nichts gewusst haben …

Der Wirecard-Skandal offenbart ein verwobenes Konstrukt aus Freunderlwirtschaft, Größenwahn und Machtrausch. Unweigerlich drängt sich die Frage nach dem Zusammenhang von Hochstapelei und dem Performen von Männlichkeit auf.

Doch war der Österreicher Jan Marsalek, der zur Zeit in Moskau vermutet wird, lediglich Hochstapler und Blender oder doch Quelle diverser Geheimdienste dieser Welt? Ist die Geschichte von Wirecard ein Bilanzskandal? Ein Wirtschaftskrimi? Ein Spionage-Thriller? Eine Slapstick-Comedy?

In jedem Fall ist sie eine gigantische Show und diese nimmt “Wirecard: Last Exit Bad Vöslau” wörtlich. Das Publikum wird zu einer Aktionärsversammlung geladen, auf der Bühne performen Drag Kings und die scheinbar seriöse Welt der Anzug- und Entscheidungsträger transformiert sich in eine Klein-Buben-Phantasie in Privatjets.

Con artists in bespoke suits. Toxic masculinities. A little-boy fantasy played out in private jets. In short: the Wirecard scandal. In a genre-defying theatrical production, Blind Date Collaboration stages this story as a satire in which drag kings lampoon a high-stakes game that was, in reality, nothing more than hot air.

The former DAX company “Wirecard” was celebrated as the German answer to Silicon Valley. But in June 2020 the tall tale was exposed: 1.9 billion euros disappeared without a trace - or never existed. Investors lose their money and ex-Wirecard COO Jan Marsalek piles up. From Bad Vöslau he flies to Minsk, where his trace is initially lost. While the legal proceedings in the Wirecard case are ongoing and have now even been extended by a year, the involvement in Austrian politics remains nebulous. And CEO Markus Braun? He doesn't want to have known about any of this...

The Wirecard scandal reveals an intricate web of cronyism, megalomania, and the intoxication of power. Inevitably, the question arises as to the connection between imposture and the performance of masculinity.

But was the Austrian Jan Marsalek—currently believed to be in Moscow—merely a con artist and a charlatan, or was he actually a source for various intelligence agencies around the globe? Is the Wirecard story an accounting scandal? A corporate thriller? A spy drama? A slapstick comedy?

In any case, it is a colossal spectacle—something *Wirecard: Last Exit Bad Vöslau* takes quite literally. The audience is invited to a shareholders' meeting; drag kings perform on stage, and the seemingly respectable world of suits and decision-makers transforms into a little-boy fantasy involving private jets.
